Idea for someone to write, original concept streaming from the G1 series of Transformers, episode "Autobot Spike" to be written in Transformers Prime timeline/series: "A (time peroid) in the life of..." This could even be written by multiple authors/versions.
Ratchet is at a loss for spare parts, so he goes to the storage area a pulls out a device. "Haven't seen this one a while, but this Neural Transfer device should have the parts I need."
Explanation: This device is pre-Cortical Patch technology where the data files of a Cybertronian would be transferred to a storage device and decoded at leisure. Unfortunately for the Decepticons, the user's personality and Spark would transfer as well and keep the wanted data (personal files versus common files like language and motor) encrypted. They killed many Autobots with this device (destroying the storage device therefore killing the Cybertronian inside) during design and testing but eventually abandoning the tech in favor of the Cortical Patch. Ratchet and other Autobot medics redesigned the device to be helpful in Open Spark Surgery (two way transfer) similar to Open Heart Surgery's need for the body to be 'dead'.
Ratchet takes the device back to the Medical/Equipment Lab and starts working on it, cataloging its parts. Bulkhead comes in and accidently bumps the device, spawning one of the usual saying from Ratchet, "I was working on that!". The machine activates just as (Autobot) and (human) pass on opposite sides of the machine, striking each with a (name color) beam of energy, they fall down unconscious. The maching falls off the worktable and is busted.
After waking, each of the affected parties finds themselves in the other's body. Ratchet (affected or not), after checking the device's condition, says that it will take a minimum of (time period, see name) to fix the device and recalibrate it. The story is of the adjustments and learning each (race) has to do. A Decepticon attack may even reveal a new ability in the Human mind/Autobot body union (that may follow the mind back to the original body, or be gained permanently by the body).
Possible pairings (any would work): Optimus and Jack or June, Arcee and June, Miko or Jack, Bumblebee and Raf, Ratchet and Raf, Anybot and Fowler, Bulkhead and Miko. Note: if Miko is not in a transfer, at the end she would most definitely yell after a successful reversal "ME NEXT!" and receiving glaring stares from all the others. For BlackWolf219, Anybot and Sunny would be an interesting pairing (given that she's a technokinetic or technopath).
