Don't Forget Me.
Summary: The Doctor finds a recording left by Donna to cheer him up (Journey's End Spoilers).
Pairing: Tenth! Doctor/Donna Noble.
Disclaimer: I do not own Doctor Who, Donna Noble or the Doctor, if so this story wouldn't need to happen.
The Doctor flung his coat over one of the coral beams and sat down on the jump seat, just getting back from leaving Donna Noble with her mother and Wilf. Back to a normal human life of which she doesn't deserve. She deserves to see the stars.
The universe can be so cruel. Everyone got their happy ending, everyone but the person who deserves it most. The most important woman in all of creation was sentenced to living like a normal person- wait no. Donna could never be a normal person. But still she should have been with him, being brilliant. Maybe the Doctor was being selfish but he wanted her with him. Forever like she promised.
Suddenly a holographic Donna appeared in front of him and he recoiled slightly in surprise.
"Is this thing on? Oh hello Doctor!" the hologram smiled brightly at him, "what have you done to me you outer space loony?" even in her absence she insulted him and put him in his place. "By the time this message play I'll be gone, well if I've set it up properly anyway. Good thing the TARDIS was helping me otherwise I wouldn't of been able to even switch the recorder on, good old girl she is!"
"Anyway! I don't know why I left, or why you decided to get rid of me, but I wanted to say," Tears started to streak down her freckled cheeks, "Thank you so much Spaceman! For all the adventures you gave me, and will in the future, for helping me become a better person, and mostly for being a best friend to me." She grinned through her tears and the Doctor smiled sadly at that, his own tears flowing freely from his eyes.
"Donna! Come on, we've landed in Shan-Shen!" His own voice came from somewhere off in the distance.
Donna wiped the tears from her cheeks and turned in the direction of his voice, "almost ready Doctor!" She turned back to the camera and took a deep breath. "Goodbye Spaceman. Don't forget me, remember everything we did together and don't feel sad about me, it's not your fault."
She smiled one last time before turning the camcorder off.
The Doctor sat in silence for a moment before the sobs that he had been holding back tore through his body like a hurricane of emotion. He brought his knees up to his face and cried into them, shielding his body from the world. His cries were so loud he was sure all of the universe, and all the others, could hear them. He wanted to stop, but he knew only Donna could stop this feeling, even though she was the one who created it in the first place.
"Donna... Please come back to me..." He whispered between the sobs, "I'll do anything, just please." He begged gently, clenching his fists that held his knees close to him.
He jumped off of the jump seat and clenched his teeth as well as his fists.
"Please! What do I have to do for her to be brought back!" He screamed into the empty and too quiet TARDIS, knowing no one would hear him beg to the Universes. "Why her! Why is she being punished?" His cries were met with silence.
He wanted, needed, her at that moment. He needed her to comfort him and to tell him everything was going to be alright.
He needed Donna Noble.
