The setting sun lit the room in golds and oranges. Loki sat in an over sized arm chair with a large old book and a small black and brown puppy in his lap. It had been a quiet evening and that was something he was thankful for. The puppy whined and nudged his hand causing him to chuckle and pet the small dogs head and continue with his reading. Through the quiet he head footsteps approaching his room. He didn't lift his head for few would venture into this part of the castle, and only one would come here this late. A click of the door confirmed his suspicions. "I hadn't expected you this early." His voice was soft as his eyes lifted to see a woman with ginger hair standing there. The woman walked over and sat one the arm of the chairs.
"Maybe I just couldn't stay away longer." She said with a sly smile causing Loki to raise a brow as a smirk slid onto his face. The woman, Sarah, had always intrigued the God of Mischief.
"Well I can hardly blame you darling." Closing the book and setting the pup onto the floor he pulled her into his lap. "Though I would never turn down your company either." He said softly into her ear as he wrapped his arms around her. With a small smile she played with the ends of his hair that was starting to get a bit longer.
"Honestly?" She asked, her voice was soft as well. Loki was the God of Lies and Mischief, one could never be entirely sure whether or not he was ever telling the whole truth.
"Honestly my sweet. Fear not, I would never lie to you. You are someone I hold very dear." He had nuzzled into her shoulder and held onto tighter. "I fear that should I ever lie to your, I would lose you." Sarah didn't have any words to describe how that confession made her feel. She instead she made him look at her and gently brushed her lips against his in a sweet kiss that he returned. It only lasted for a few short moments but it seemed to last forever and was like heaven. When they pulled apart Sarah snuggled into him and they sat there quietly just enjoying each other company. An hour or so later they had both fallen asleep with smiles on their faces.
