"Merry!" Pippin whispered, looking around quickly for any sign of Farmer Maggot.
Merry had been in the cornfields for quite some time, and had not shown any sign of coming out anytime soon.
Pippin sighed, looking around once more before going through the stalks.
"Pip!"
Pippin turned around, looking frantically for him.
"Over here!"
Pippin followed the sound, running now, in case of being caught.
When Pippin pushed through the another two rows of stalks, he found his mom, along with Merry's ear in hand.
"Peregrin Took! You get over here this instant!"
Pippin trudged over to where she was, head hung.

Pippin and Merry had been punished before for doing such things, but never had they ever had a punishment this intense.
They were denied second breakfast, lunch, and afternoon tea the following day.
From then on, they only stole from Farmer Maggot's farm, when they were sure they had eaten their full that day.
