A/N: I got the inspiration for this from a dream. My dreams tend to be very vivid and memorable. Often, this leads to horrible nightmares, but every once in a while I get stuff like this.
Above all else, Divine considered himself to be a businessman and investor. However, his investments were slightly different from the norm. He did participate in the more orthodox activities at Nihonbashi, but that was just a front. While most of his peers threw their money into land and companies, Divine invested in people.
The rules were quite simple: put some money in, and, if you chose wisely, you'd eventually get a profit. Toby Lola…now that had been a poor investment; one of the few Divine had made. He'd had to snuff that one out as quickly as possible. But mostly, Divine had good intuition on what would pay out.
His best investment of all, of course, had been Aki Izayoi. Aside from her extreme power, she had plenty of other assets. He had had to constantly remind himself that patience was a virtue in these sort of things, so he had waited…for both her powers and her body to reach full maturity.
It was not Divine's nature to ever want to give anything back, but on carefully-spaced occasions he gave Aki pleasure as well as taking it from her. This, too, could be considered an investment. If her urges were satiated, she would be more docile and thus more willing to follow along with anything Divine requested of her. Obviously, she wouldn't have a choice in the matter anyway, but this method was easier.
Perhaps, sometime far in the future when all of Divine's goals were realized, he would have Aki produce an heir for him. Only time would tell what sort of investment that would be.
