As usual I own no rights to the characters or locations within this story. Everything except for the plot which belongs to JK Rowling. Please review! The more reviews I get the faster I will update. I do have the next few chapters written so it is only a matter of how interested people seem to be in the story as to how fast I update. Enjoy! Oh and as for the rating, it will get a little more M rated as we progress.
A green light burst through the room as it found its intended target, a young muggle woman who instantly crumpled to the floor. Suddenly stepping out of the shadows was the figure of Voldemort who was as smug as ever if you could interpret the snake-like smirk on his face as such. With a quick start, Voldemort turned and seemed to stare straight into Harry's soul "Had enough yet? All it takes is stepping down and turning yourself over to me. All of them die because of you." repeating the same words that had haunted Harry's dreams since the death of Sirius.
Thankfully, Harry soon drifted away from his horrible dream and back into his small and overly stuffed room at Hogwarts. A multitude of snores could be heard from the nearby beds as Harry resigned himself to the fact that he wouldn't be getting anymore sleep despite the fact that it was only three in the morning on a weekend. 'Might as well get up and out of bed for awhile' Harry mused as he tossed the covers off of his legs and walked to his trunk to pull out a clean robe as well as his cloak. Fortunately, no one had noticed his nightly absences or the fact that he seemed to be loosing weight as the circles under his eyes darkened. Soon Harry was properly dressed with his wand tucked into his sleeve and his cloak tossed over him, shielding him from the vision of anyone who might have happened to look.
Without notice, Harry slipped outside of the common room and into Hogwarts' many long halls and corridors. By now, his feet knew the way and he found his way down to the lake in no time. Although the scene before him was a truly beautiful sight with the nearly full moon illuminating the lake and a soft breeze whispering through the trees it brought Harry little comfort. In fact, within moments he found himself feeling weak and sat against the tree so he could stare out across the lake. It didn't take long before Harry's thoughts returned to his dream and Sirius "Why did I have to be so stupid? If I had actually through things through Sirius would still be here, as would Cedric and so many others. After all, he is right; they did all die because of me. I killed all of them" Harry whispered in a low and mournful voice unaware of the listening pair of ears behind him.
"You can't save everyone" the voice announced itself as the figure stepped forward out of the shadows and into the boy's line of vision.
"Professor, I'm sorry. I didn't know you were out here." Harry mumbled quickly as he recognized the figure as Severus Snape, the head of house for Slytherin.
"I realize that, however that doesn't change the fact that you are out of your dormitory far past curfew. As such, I must escort you back to your house Mr. Potter" Severus spoke as his voice pierced the silence. With a quick final glance at the lake Harry rose and quietly let himself be escorted back to the tower in silence.
Once they reached, the portrait of the Fat Lady Severus yet again broke the silence. "You must stay in here for both your own good and the good of others. Oh, and you do have detention for the next two nights with me for being out after hours." Before Harry could respond, Severus had disappeared behind a corner to get a few hours of sleep before he too had to awake.
