(A/N: I had a writing prompt at school about bedtime stories. I didn't write this for school, but I was still thinking about the prompt later and decided to write this. Enjoy!)

Bedtime Stories

"Madame, I'm going to tell you a bedtime story," Boq informs Nessa as she sits on her bed.

Nessa resists the urge to roll her eyes. "I think I'm a little old for that," she points out.

"I don't care," Boq says. "Once upon a time, there was a powerful governor."

"It's me, isn't it?" Nessa interrupts in a bored voice. "Boq, you never did have much imagination…"

"You can look at it that way," Boq answers. "And I do have imagination. The governor had a servant," he continues.

"You," Nessa says in the same tone she used before.

"If you want to think of it that way, go ahead," Boq replies. "Anyways, the servant worked day and night helping the governor because she loved him and wouldn't let him leave. So I guess he was more like a slave, but moving on, he stayed with her and didn't argue, and that's what matters. One day, the servant realized that he might feel the same way about the governor that she felt about him. Of course, not in such a creepy, stalkerish way, but…"

"Boq, you're rambling."

"Right. Sorry. The servant didn't know how to tell the governor that he loved her. Finally, he decided the best way would be to tell her a story." Boq concludes with a half smile on his face.

"You forgot one thing," Nessa says, smiling.

"What's that?"

"And they all lived happily ever after."
