Rose Weasley wanted a calm life. But she never got it, at least until she hadn't finished Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The whole entire problem was, why… Perhaps it was their neighbors, more specifically- the neighbor's son, about the same age as Rose. His name was Tobias, and he was the most annoying boy in the neighborhood. He always had his radio turned on the highest volume, which caused sleepless nights in the Burrow. But, as a Wizarding family, they couldn't use magic against them, and despite Ron's curses and threats (to himself) Hermione always managed to calm him down. So you could say that the whole entire Weasley family disliked him.

Then, on June 21, when it was Rose's day to check the mail, she saw an envelope with the Hogwarts coat of arms on it. Mum! Dad! I've got it! She screamed. Hugo, who was one year older than her, continued eating his cereal without a word. That didn't surprise Rose, being silent was just Hugo's character. What actually surprised Rose was her mother saying "get ready, sweetheart, we're going to Diagon Alley!" Hugo, dear, give me your list and I'll get your things too. So they went to the Leaky Cauldron- Hermione had organized a Portkey to get them right inside the Leaky Cauldron. But while they were walking to the Portkey, Rose saw Tobias, clutching an identical envelope in his hand. "Just not that," thought Rose, "just not that!" Hermione, following Rose's glance said, "Don't worry, Rose, you'll probably be in different Houses, and if you are in the same House the ladder to the girls' dormitory turns into a slide if a boy tries to climb it up." Hermione stifled a laugh behind her arm.

But that didn't really calm Rose down. When they arrived at Diagon Alley the clouds were promising rain, so Hermione sped up, with Rose following. Then, when Rose was looking through the window of Madam Keko's robe shop, something made her stop dead in her tracks. In the shop, innocently trying on some robes in the middle of the shop was Tobias! And he was smirking like he was the lord of the universe! Rose figured that she had found an enemy face to face, even before she had started school! But since she couldn't do anything about it, she raced to catch up with her mother, who hadn't noticed anything. Another thing that had bothered Rose was that Tobias looked right like Draco Malfoy, as her Uncle Harry had told her all about his first year in Hogwarts about a week before.

When they were done shopping, and had gotten all their supplies, Rose had almost forgot about the incident at Madam Keko's place. She was basically beaming with happiness: for she had gotten an owl, a (very) enthusiastic owl who she had named Leila. Leila was a barn owl, but she was still young, so she was among the smallest in Eyelops Owl Emporium (except for the Sokoke Scopes owls, because those are tiny!). Now was the part Rose was worried- getting a wand…
