A/N: This may not exactly be TLK, but it also is, because I will tie it into the original characters later on. All the characters that you have never heard of belong to me, and I plan to keep it that way. I would appreciate if you would R&R! Enjoy..

N'ikith'b Dynasty

Chapter 1...

The world was quiet. Just the way it should be. The Egyptian sun was warming the cool ground where Queen Ecaep layed. Her fur was a light tawny color, and her eyes were an icy blue. Her black-rimmed ears perked up when she heard an ibis in the water. She smiled over at her mate, King Aloyarc. Their young cub, Prince Utahom, was snuggled between his mane and paws. She stood up and shook her fur out. She slowly made her way to the great Nile. She lowered her head into the rushing waters. It tasted sweet on her dry throat. Her mind wandered as she looked at the somewhat distant city of Cairo.

Eceap and Aloyarc had come to this place 9 years ago, with a small group of lionesses. They had started this pride, which they had named N'ikith'b. Aloyarc had said the Great Kings of the Past had said it meant peace, in some very ancient language. But he had just told Eceap that it sounded nice. Since the beginning, the King and Queen had wanted a heir to call their own. But they had not been able to. It ran in the family. They had a cub, whom they named Kc'hob, but she had been female. Now she was in her early teens. Finally, the Great Kings blessed them with a little heir all their own. They had named him Utahom, after the Great Old King Mohatu. It was a sign of respect to name a cub a Great King's name backwards.

Ecaep knew she was getting on in years. She wished she could have had the cub sooner. She most likely wouldn't be alive to see his children. At least she would be able to see Kc'hob's cubs. Her bethrothed was To'oh, the son of Aloyarc's cousin, Tp'yge. Aloyarc was even older than she. They would be easy to overcome, if any other young males wished to. But the lands around them were bare of any lions. Even prey was scarce, with all the desert that surrounded them. But they managed.

She was stirred from her memories by a roar-yawn, coming from her mate. Utahom stirred, slowly waking. Ecaep looked sternly at Aloyarc, who should know better than to wake the cub. He gave an apologetic smile.

"Hey mom!" Utahom cried sleepily. "I'm thirsty!"

"Go get a drink then, runt." Kc'hob said loudly. She had been sleeping next to To'oh, and apparently, she had just been awakened by her brother's whining. Utahom just rolled his eyes.

"Mom, can I go get a drink?" he asked.

"Sure, dear. Be careful though!" she answered.

The days would go one, sure enough. One after another, just like they always had...or so she thought.
