As the light finally faded into darkness, I stared up at the sky. The grass gently tickled me as I lay down. It was nights like this that I loved most of all. Not a single cloud blocked my view of what some people called the heavens. Whatever you call them, their beauty is undeniable.
"Enjoying some stargazing?" Althea's kind voice came from outside my line of sight.
"Yep," I said, looking over to the other girl as she sat down next to me, her chestnut colored hair in a low ponytail instead of its usual high loop. "I thought you went to bed already."
"I tried," she admitted after a minute.
"What's up?" I asked, sitting up a bit so I could see her face.
"I never imagined I'd be out here with someone who, only a few days ago, was a complete stranger," Althea said, her upturned face hidden from my view.
"True," I said, laying back down when I decided it was a waste of energy to try to read her face. "I never imagined I'd be travelling around without the rest of the party but here I am."
My companion looked down at me to give a smile before lying down next to me to look at the stars.
"How's your head?" She asked. "Are you still hearing voices?"
"Hearing voi-" I cut myself off as I realized what she was talking about and laughed. "You know, understanding people is like trying to count every single one of those stars up there," I held out one of my hands towards the brightest star in the sky. "Either you give up or you do it forever."
"Which have you decided on doing?"
I smiled, feeling the skin around my eyes crinkle up. "I'm still counting," I said. "Probably will be for quite awhile if Krystal has anything to say about it."
"You are still hearing voices then," Althea said, sitting up and looking over at me accusingly (well, as accusing as the kind-natured girl could get).
'This is getting a bit annoying,' the voice replied, making me smile even more.
"Maybe," I answered both of their statements at the same time.
