A Tokyo Mew Mew Story

He watched her as she flew through the air, as her small back hit the unforgiving concrete wall. He silently cursed his large ears, which picked up every sound around him; her scream as she hit the wall, the thump as she fell to the ground, her soft sobs of pain, Deep Blue's cruel laughter. His eyes started to water as he recalled what he'd said to her earlier, "Put up or shut up, because either we die, or you will!" From the moment those words had left his mouth, he hoped he'd be the one to die. Because, though he'd never admit it, he didn't want the little monkey hurt.

He began to run toward her, tears flowing freely from his amber eyes, flying into the air behind him propelled by the wind rushing past him as he ran toward the yellow Mew. The four other Mew Mews had gathered around her, forming something of a circle. They began to stand up and take out their weapons at the sound of footsteps running behind them, but formed a makeshift path for the redhead alien as they saw him.

He sat down on his knees, taking her body gently in his arms, a few tears falling on to her face. "Pudding…" he said softly, his right thumb gently stroking her cold cheek. She opened her eyes slowly, weakly. "Taru…Taru?" she softly asked, with a great deal of effort. "Why are you crying…Taru-Taru?" He just kept holding her, the only thing he could do, his small body racked with sobs. "Pudding…I'm sorry…I'm really sorry…" he whispered. "It's not your fault." She said, trying to comfort him. "I…I want to tell you something, Pudding." He said, speaking a bit louder than before, tears still streaming from his eyes. "What is it?" she asked, her eyes only half open. "I…never hated you, Pudding. In fact….I kind of…like you. I-I just pretended because…we're supposed to be enemies, but I…...I love you, Pudding. I really love you. I…don't want you to die! I don't know what I'll do if you die!"

Some more of his tears fell onto her face, mixing with her own. "Tart…I…I love you, too. I…really do. Ever since we met, since our first battle. I didn't want to fight you. I never did. I always wished we could just…get along…and I tried so hard to be your friend…but you always just pushed me away. I always said that fighting is much less fun than playing as friends…I said it many, many times."

She fainted, the colour drained from her small face, her eyes gently closed. "NO!! Pudding! Please, no!" he cried desperately. "I'll…give you all my power…I can't let you die like this…"

He moved his face closer to hers, the eyes tear-filled eyes of the four other Mews boring down on him. He closed his eyes and pressed his lips against her cold ones. Her forehead began to glow a blinding yellow light, the colour returning to her face. He began to feel faint, willing himself to stay awake as he held her tighter. He couldn't avoid it forever. He gently let go of her as he fell backwards onto the hard pavement.

"Taru…Taru?" she asked softly as she opened her eyes and slowly sat up on the cool, hard ground. She felt something bush her hand, something cold. She looked over to see the small alien boy lying beside her. "Wake up, Taru-Taru. I'm feeling better na no da!" she said to him gently, shaking his shoulder slightly, "Taru-Taru? Wake up, Taru-Taru!" She gasped. "Come on, Tart! Wake up! Quit joking around!"

She put her face next to his. She couldn't feel his breath. "Tart?! Come on, buddy, wake up!" The pink Mew knelt down next to her. "I'm sorry, Pudding. He didn't…want you to die. He gave you all of his power." Tears began to form in her eyes. "TART!!! NO!!" she held his body to her. His skin was cold against hers. "P-please, Tart. Tell me it's not true."

She broke out sobbing, holding his dead body to hers tightly, as if it might disintegrate at any moment.

It was horrible. For him to die just to save her.
