Everyone in Shiz loved the first snowfall, It brought a kind of whimsical majesty to the grounds; bearing its icy robe of silver and white. Everyone save for the peculiar girl who's emerald skin tone attracted their share of jeers from her class mates, the girl who had a rather strange allergy to water, The girl named Elphaba Thropp.

"Elphaba, dearest, please accompany me and Ama Clutch on a walk through the snow" The blondest of the blonde, Galinda Arduenna, Begged her roommate.

"You know I can't" she turned her back towards her as she jackknifed herself further away from her and closer to the window.

"Well, Miss Elphie, you mean green thing I hope you have fun spending this beautiful day alone with your books" Galinda followed her Ama out the door,

Elphaba didn't answer her as she turned her attention back to her book, but found herself getting distracted. She pondered the cause of her distraction as she peered out the window, just in time to catch a glimpse of Galinda frolicking about the snow with her good friend; Miss Pfannee.

What a charming scene they made: The snow twinkled from the sky like fallen stars and danced around the smiling girls and finally landing on the earth like the glittering tears of the Unnamed God waiting patiently to be thrown, once again, into the air.

Elphaba wore a sad smile, a smile of any kind was rare for her, and she asked herself a daunting question: If she didn't have such an allergy to water, would she be out there as well? Having fun? But Elphaba Thropp didn't have fun, not as long as she had school work to do. But that was a stupid question, because she would always have this allergy, at one point in her blurry childhood she was positive she would grow out of it, but her hopes were dashed as she grew older and the 'condition', as her nanny called it, didn't change.

The emerald girl grew weary of sitting there but her mind remained restless, she opened a window and stuck her hand out just long enough to catch a snowflake in her palm, the silver object shimmered in the sunlight, she could make out the multiple designs and spires that decorated the tiny thing before it melted causing her to curse herself.

She returned to her original position.

Galinda caught her eye once again, this time she was noticed, the blonde girl eagerly waved at her odd friend making wild arm motions meaning for her to join them. Elphaba looked away. She breathed onto the window; fogging up the glass, she swiped her finger across it writing neatly the words: I can't.
