Title: Upside-down
Summary: If Temperance Brennan was anything, it was far from regretful.
Pairing:One-sided Booth/Bones
Notes1:I've watched Bones for so long, it's hard to remember when my obsession started. No one likes it, slash has never tried to watch it. So, only recently have I found a crew of Bones-goers among my friends. And I love talking about it, after having like 5 years of only talking to my mom: which, I gotta say, sucks. She's all "it's just a show, sweetie." But it's BONES, COOOOMMEEE, ONNNN!
Notes2: So, as you can see: I've FINALLY hoisted a fanfic of the show! WOO, right?
Notes3:Very short. But, I'm trying to get the personalities of Booth and Bones. And Bones is nearly impossible. So, this is just practice for future Bones stories.

If Temperance Brennan was anything, it was far from regretful.

She was rational, yes. She thought through each and every one of her actions. She was kind; she gave to charity, to her friends, to anyone in need. She was even fairly friendly or, as Parker would say: "cool."

But, never once in her lifetime, did Temperance regret anything.

Never, that is, until now.

The woman was Lauren Emes. And the case resembled Temperance's own life. It was as if she were solving her own murder.

So, then: if the person had her face, and her voice was an exact match to the victims, why did no one believe her?

Micah seemed to be the only person to actually understand where she was coming from. He traded her confessions for logic and reasoning. Oddly enough, his profile, which fit the exact description of a security guard: bulky, idiotic, and uncomprehending to her speech patterns, was a disillusion to his real personality.

He went to lectures at the Jeffersonian whenever he could, he never once spoke in a way she could not understand, and he cared for her, in his own sweet way. He could be considered a good friend, if any there was. He was her "person," she could always talk to him whenever she couldn't speak with the other "squints" or Booth. The latter of which seemed to be pulling away as his day's with Hannah progressed.

Her worst fears were realized when Parker liked her. Although on the exterior she seemed to really enjoy the journalist's presence, and assisted the woman in gaining the boy's affection, she'd always hoped that Parker would hate the woman. These hopes, however, were dashed when Booth explained how much Parker liked Hannah.

Temperance never felt more than friendship toward Seeley Booth, that is, up until his confession. The doubt she held within herself surfaced at that point, one year ago. And when it was finally freed, when she finally told him how she felt; "Her offered himself to her, but she never gave him a chance. That was her regret."

"I don't want to have any regrets."

"Rejection was the hardest for her, possibly because it had never occurred previously. She was always accepted for who she was- whether for her intelligence, looks, or her line of work. She was accepted as an author, as a girlfriend and as a co-worker or superior. However, being told by the one person she ever truly felt something for, that he loved someone else was... hard. Not impossible to deal with. Her world had turned upside-down, but she could adjust.

She would adjust.
