Tina Nolish
Chapter 1
I entered my home, feeling warmly welcomed by music. The CD player was playing an instrumental song using a piano, it was beautiful. I called out Matt's name, but it was as if he wasn't home. Of course he had to be home, he had finished work an hour ago, plus he wouldn't have left the music on this morning. I trotted along the hallway in the kitchen, made some coffee and awaited his arrival by sitting at the dining table.
Eventually I got worried, minutes past and before I knew it I'd been home an hour.
I went looking for him; worry was dancing around my thoughts. Matt will probably walk in any second now and prove to me just how paranoid I am. After checking the living room and garden, I took a sneak peek into the bedroom, but was greeted by a hideous smell. At first I held my nose, but then noticed a strange shape upon the floor boards.
Because of the curtains being shut, the only light in the room was a little blue coloured lamp on the side desk, there was just about enough light to find my way around. I stumbled to the curtains and pulled them open without even looking out the window, I just looked down to see a pile of clothes.
I was furious with myself, how can I be so stupid to think something had actually happen?
Then I turned around. The window was broken, shards of glass decorated the ground below, and a star like shape was imprinted into the window. Droplets of red had dried up on the edges of the star; the horror of it was magnificently terrifying. I took a step forward, then suddenly felt a thick gooey liquid smothering my shoe, I knew for sure this wasn't just paint or ketchup sauce. Blood was everywhere, and I was standing in it. I peered outside of the window, to see a body.
My husband's body.
