A/N: Gah, it's really hard to write Luffy X Hancock because of the whole one-sided thing, and Luffy's personality in general makes it difficult for me to write about him being in a relationship with ANYBODY, even if I made him OOC. He's just not a very romantic person at all...or maybe he is, and he just doesn't realize it.
Well, here's a short Luffy X Hancock drabble for ya...
Monkey D. Luffy was about to let out a loud yawn, but he quickly caught himself. He glanced at the small digital clock on the night-side table; it was almost midnight. The young woman bundled up underneath the covers in front of him let out a tiny moan, and Luffy immediately brought his attention back to her. For about six hours now he had been sitting at Boa Hancock's bedside, keeping watch over her. She had come down with a serious cold earlier that day, and had to be restricted to nothing but bed rest until she finally got better. Although Chopper had told him that it was nothing too serious, Luffy couldn't help but worry.
Luffy hated it; he couldn't see Hancock's face in the darkness, but he could tell that she was suffering. '...Hancock...' He was so distressed over Hancock's condition that he had even skipped lunch and dinner, which was something never thought possible for someone like Luffy.
The door behind him suddenly creaked open ever so slightly, allowing some light to leak in, and Luffy looked over his shoulder to see Nami standing there. "You should really get some rest, you know..." she whispered as quietly as she could.
"Sorry," Luffy whispered back, shaking his head, "but I need to be by her side..."
"Luffy...she'll be better tomorrow...Chopper said so after he gave her that medicine-" Nami tried to explain.
"I know, but," Luffy smiled widely, like he's done so many times before, "I think she'll feel alot better if I'm by her side...I'll be fine staying here tonight...really..."
Nami sighed; there was no use trying to get Luffy to change his mind once he's decided on something. "Alright, but...just make sure you don't catch her cold, okay?"
Luffy nodded, and Nami let out a sigh as she closed the door. She sort of wished that Luffy acted as seriously like that for everything else they did, but at least she still had Zoro and Sanji to do that, despite how annoying they were sometimes. She did have to admit that she was pretty impressed regarding Luffy's devotion to Hancock, though. It almost made her feel a bit jealous.
Coughing with noticeable difficulty, Hancock rolled over onto her right side so that her face now faced towards Luffy. For a moment, as he stared deeply at her, Luffy almost wanted to reach out and brush a few stray hairs out of her beautiful face. Of course, he kept his hands to himself and just continued to sit there, waiting for daybreak. Hancock sneezed, and Luffy muttered a tiny "bless you" under his breath. Hancock whispered a little "thank you" back to him, and the edges of Luffy's lips curled upwards.
Still, although he didn't know much, there was one thing that Luffy knew for a fact at that very moment as the clock reached 12:00; he was going to need one hell of a big breakfast tomorrow...
