Human Hunter
The shrill neigh of the distressed horse called a warning to its rider. The young girl spun round her dusty blonde hair flew madly in the wind her crystal blue eyes caught the eye of the man whose arrow was pointed at her heart. All was silent except for the quiet breeze that stirred the trees and made the birds restless. They had watched this girl outrun a mighty black stallion, outsmart the wisest owl and hide away from nature itself. Now here she was standing in the middle of the deepest forest face to face with this strange man who had appeared from no where. The birds screeched in distress as they heard the whiz of the arrow shoot through the air. But heard a flutter of delight swarmed the forest at it whizzed past her neck skimming a bit of flesh off causing blood to slowly ooze out of the small wound. Nothing compared to what this child has endured. As quick as a flash she snatched to arrow from the tree that it had dug into. The man cursed under his breath and reached for his arrows, grabbed one and placed it in his bow. Too late, the girl had aimed and let the arrow loose. It pierced next to his heart so he wouldn't die straight away. He sank to the ground coughing up blood as he dropped his bow and arrow. The girl walked up to him and crouched down next to him one of his own arrows in her hand. The man lay on the ground in a puddle of his own blood.
"So, how are you?" She said asking politely
"Kill me, kill me now," The man coughed impatiently, longing for the pain to end.
"Don't be so impatient! Even after death the pain never ceases," the sweet melody of her voice chimed to him. This ruined beauty stared down deep into his hazel eyes.
"Why do you hunt your own kind? Are you cannibal?" He asked with his rough voice, every word was spluttered out with blood. She ran her finger across his forehead.
"I am not one to be cannibal; however I hunt to relieve the world from the plague known as humans. You hunt for selfish purposes, you are killing my mother," she said anger fueling her words. The man hesitated.
"You are human, will you not kill yourself?" He asked.
"I will die when the plague is dead," she answered knowingly.
"Then you will betray God," he snared
"No, God has already betrayed me," she snapped at him angrily and stabbed the arrow through his heart. He spluttered out blood with a gasp then the lights in his eyes dimmed and his body went limp. She kicked his body in disgust. A soft whicker was heard from the bush as a big, stocky dark brown and white horse walked quickly through the trees and nuzzled the girl. She looked at him and put a hand absent-mindly over his half blue eye. She smiled at him, grabbed her bow and arrows that she had hid in a small tree and shouldered them. She grabbed the pony's mane gently and jumped onto his back and she gently squeezed his side to move forward.
"Lets go Aeron," she whispered as the wind sang her name. Panthera.
