Disclaimer: Don't own them, so there you go

Setting: After Angela's date with Jack before she says they have to be friends.

Authors note: Pure angst on Angela's part. She knows so much. But still has to tell him…

She Knew

She knew when she met him he was different. Bugs, dirt, slime, conspiracy theories. This guy was strange. In a good way.

She knew straight away they would be friends. He made her laugh. They bantered. They argued

She knew something changed between them after Brennan's trip to New Orleans. She just wasn't sure what.

She knew that Jack was developing a 'thing' for her. She thought it was sweet and would be short lived.

She knew he looked at her, when she wasn't looking. And she started to like it.

She knew she could fluster him easily. With a look. A word. And she did. Often.

She knew he was finding reasons to talk to her, bother her, argue with her. She hadn't counted on how much she looked forward to it.

She knew he felt her pain at not being able to help Amy more. And that he would have done anything he could to make it stop. For her. For Amy.

She knew giving her the rose meant a lot to Jack. She just wasn't sure she knew what it meant to her.

She knew she was the only one who could calm him down and make him think clearly. And she did.

She knew he had sniffed her hair. She thought it was cute.

She knew he would have kissed her. If she gave permission. Which she denied.

She knew he wasn't talking about Booth and Cam falling in love in a forensics lab. But couldn't bring herself to admit it.

She knew when he asked her out, he expected her to say yes. But she didn't

She knew that Cam was wrong. The date would not be a disaster, Jack wouldn't let it be.

She knew when she went to see him, to say she had changed her mind, she was playing with fire. But she couldn't stop herself.

She knew when he showed her the swings, the night really was going to be magical.

She knew when he kissed her the world stopped. And she couldn't breathe.

She knew he would treat her like a princess.

She knew she didn't deserve it.

She knew they would only get one date. She knew the fear in her was too great.

She knew she would have to go into work, tell him they had to go back. Be friends. Break his heart.

And she knew hers would break too.

Well I know it is pure conjecture, but what do you think? Does Angies mind work like this? Reviews, criticisms, differing viewpoints are all welcomed. :)
