Disclaimer: IDOM

AN: This... I wrote this a LONG while ago. Last year-ish long while ago. I think it's the best poem I've ever written (it was written for the World Poetry Movement, by the way, if that means anything to any of you), and it was 100% inspired by Merlin and Arthur' bromance. 100%. And yet... truth be told, I was selfish. Horribly, horribly selfish. At first, it never once crossed my mind to post it (why? Not too sure), and it disappeared from my mind. When I thought of it again, I considered posting it after sharing it with some people at the Heart of Camelot but didn't because, yeah, I'm selfish, and for some reason, I was uncomfortable posting this on the Internet. However... I haven't felt the urge to be secretive about my writing since... before I started writing fanfic, and since this IS a poem for them - for Merlin and Arthur - it felt so WRONG. So, so, so wrong. Sinful, almost, if you can believe that. I realized that...it might be read by the peeps of the World Poetry Movement, but the people who will enjoy it most are you guys. It was MEANT to be read by you guys, and I was awful to not share it with you.

So for that, I apologize. :)

I realize that this could have technically been posted in my Rabbits and Bathroom Breaks, but I decided against it.

Hope you enjoy:

Vir

Ironic, it may seem,

That, with my goofy grin agleam

And with my cheeky defiance,

You'd still come to me for guidance

Funny, it may appear,

That, with your mocking smirk clear

And with your heroic tread,

I'd still dare to call you "thickhead"

Yet… would you believe it true

That I'd willingly die for you?

Yes, for every laugh we share

For each scar we bear,

For you, I'd fight

For what's just and right

I'd endure the pain and strive

So that all might survive

I'd ride to the mouth of hell

Where demons dwell

Despite the Darkness hidden by day

I'll be there every step of the way

Through every twist and turn,

I'm not afraid to burn

On that unyielding pyre

Of Destiny's fire.

The sun may soon set,

Our time well-spent,

But our legend will remain

For we are Evil's bane

Our bond will never die,

So it will never be good-bye

And I'll stand at your shoulder,

Be your steady boulder,

Old friend,

Until the end
