Smurfs is my all time favorite childhood show. This story takes place during the classic well-thought out tv series. In my personal opinion, the CGI Smurfs shouldn't exist. Clumsy is cute and all, but the personalities and relationships for each smurf is all out of whack.

Anyway this is a Clumsy/Brainy Friendship based fanfiction. I have went back and edited this story heavily. The plot is still the same, but the writing was cringe worthy. This story is one of my most popular stories I have written and due to high demand for updates, I will continue.

PAPA SMURFS POV

The morning was crisp and the birds had all gathered to catch the early worm. Sun creeped into the curtains, straight into the eyes of the oldest Smurf in the village. Instantly, he became uncomfortable and rolled over in bed with a sigh. He was partially awake, but the earth seemed to demand that he woke up sooner. It was early – too early. Still, Papa Smurf knew what needed to be done today – Lots of things. He was going to visit Homnibus to watch a new star form in the sky later on that night, but first responsibilities around the village had to be taken care of. It took a moment, but he managed to pull himself out of bed and slip on his day clothes.

As soon as he stepped out the door, he was bombarded by none other than Brainy Smur.."Papa Smurf! Papa Smurf!" Brainy ran up to him out of breath, but quickly composed himself.

"Why Brainy, what as you up so early? Did you forget to fall asleep again?" Papa Smurf ran his eyes over his brainy pupil. He seemed well rested, but Papa Smurf knew that sleep was not on his mind.

"Well I, Brainy Smurf, thought it would be best to come with you to watch the new star be born." Brainy said with a matter of fact tone as he stood straight and peered expectantly up at the oldest smurf.

Pap Smurf sighed softly. Brainy was always doing this, he was so eager to learn and accompany himself wherever he went. But Papa Smurf didn't mind, most of the time, it was just who Brainy was.

"Sorry, Brainy but I'll be going alone this time, Homnibus and I need to take specific notes and not be disturbed."

"But Papa Smurf, please I won't be any trouble." Brainy's excited features turned slightly down cast, disappointed.

"No, Brainy, not the time. Perhaps next time, okay? Now come on, let's go smurf breakfast."

Brainy sighed in defeat. "Fine."

"Don't feel down, Brainy. You have to stay here and help run the village." Papa Smurf attempted to turn that frown upside down. It definitely caught Brainy's attention. Papa smiled softly as he watched Brainy's eyes widen.

"What? Really, you mean it, you're leaving me in charge?!" Brainy's smile was bursting at the seams and Papa soon realized that he chose a poor choice of words. Brainy may be the most eager to gain knowledge, but he still had a lot to learn. At least, he would be with Homnibus instead.

"Yes, you can help." Papa Smurf said no more as he motioned his eager pupil to the cafeteria.

When the two arrived, every Smurf was in the mess hall eating smurf berry muffins and goat's meal. Everyone was talking with each other, some stopped their conversation and greeted the two as they walked in.

Suddenly, there was a crash that echoed through the café. Papa stumbled but managed to catch himself, he turned to Brainy to find him covered in smurf berry jelly. Brainy's good mood came crashing down. Literally.

"Clumsy Smurf! Watch where your smurfing!" Brainy said while struggling to get up as he slipped on the jelly. He flung flecks of Jelly to the floor, his white pants smeared with purple.

"Uh.. Gee, sorry Brainy." Clumsy said with wide eyes as he began picking up his tray. The stitches in his hat had become loose causing it to fall in his eyes. He had been struggling with the darn thing all morning.

"Sorry isn't going to smurf it this time, Clumsy, every morning I always end up changing my clothes for some reason because of you."

"Now Brainy..." Papa Smurf decided that this moment was good to intervene, but his attempts were dismissed.

"Same thing every morning!" Brainy yelled at Clumsy as he stomped out the door.

Papa Smurf flinched at the door slam but immediately turned to his clumsiest pupil with an empathetic gaze. "Here Clumsy, let's get you cleaned up." He held out his hand to help the poor smurf up. What a dreadful start to the morning. He noticed Handy make his way towards them with a wash cloth and towels. "Thank you, Handy." Papa Smurf nodded as he pulled Clumsy away to the kitchen.

"Do not let Brainy put you down Clumsy. Now lets take a look at that hat, did it fall loose again?"

Papa Smurf didn't get much of a reaction that he hoped for but Clumsy nodded when he mentioned the hat. He watched as the young smurf ouulled his hat off, played with it for a moment before handing it to Papa Smurf.

Papa smiled. "I'll fix it immediately."

"Thank ya, Papa Smurf. I'm real sorry, I really am."

"I know, Clumsy." He replied with a small smile.

Clumsy took Brainy's outburst every day, He should be used to it by now. Every smurf liked Clumsy, but Clumsy was just…Clumsy. Papa Smurf could never understand why Clumsy considered Brainy as his best friend. They were just so different. Clumsy was sweet, kind and loved to help other smurfs. Brainy was…Brainy. His bark was much worse than his bite.

But none of that mattered to Papa Smurf. He loved each and every one of his smurfs equally, he had no favorites.

After breakfast, Some of the Smurfs went out and began engaging a game of smurf ball.

Hefty and Handy were team captains.

"Ok, I want Greedy, Vanity and Smurfette ." Hefty pointed them out for his team.

"Ok, I'll take Jokey,Grouchy and…ugh…Brainy." Handy said.

"Hey can I play?" Clumsy wandered up beside Smurfette with a stitched up hat and a happy smile on his face.

Each smurf took a glance at each other.

"No Clumsy, you can't, every time you play we end up losing the ball!" Brainy snapped bitterly, still slightly frustrated from the incident that happened this morning.

"Um…What Brainy means is that we already have enough players and it wouldn't be fair to the other team, sorry Clumsy." Smurfette said kindly while trying not to hurt Clumsy's feelings.

In truth, She didn't really care if Clumsy played with them. She liked Clumsy. He was always there for any smurf that needed help and he was extremely loyal to his friends. He was a total sweetheart.

Brainy didn't deserve him.

Clumsy's face fell. "Oh, okay ,Sorry to bother you Smurfs." Clumsy replied in disappointment as he walked off with a sad look on his face.

"That wasn't nice Brainy, one day you're gonna wish you were nicer to Clumsy." Handy said.

"Ugh, yeah, when pigs fly, Lets just play." Brainy groaned.

Clumsy kicked a piece of gravel, but ended up nearly tripping on a twig as he trudged through the surrounding forest. He wasn't exactly supposed to come out here alone, but his thoughts had gotten in the way of common sense. He didn't understand why Brainy was being mean to him. He must just be in one of his moods and stressed out.

Very recently, he had been thinking about Brainy and his relationship with him. Clumsy was far from stupid, but he was having his doubts. Did Brainy think of him as highly as Clumsy thought of him? Probably not. Clumsy ruined his clothes a lot. He remembered the time when a meteor crushed his house. Smurfette had told him that Brainy didn't even seem like he cared at all. But then there were times when Clumsy saved the intellectual smurf from that ogre that was using Brainy as a power source. He acted if Clumsy was the most important smurf he had ever seen.

It was all so confusing! Brainy was a complicated smurf.

As he continued to walk, he hadn't realized how far he had gone until he stopped and peered around. He didn't see anything familiar. He was at least a mile or two from the village. Panic arose in the bottom of his throat.

Suddenly, the bushes around him shuttered.

"Um hello?" Clumsy froze in place. No answer.

If it was Gargemel or Azriel, they would have jumped out by now and snatched him up for dinner.

"Hello?" A voice came from the bushes and out walked a Green Smurf.
