I told her I'd never let her go, never say goodbye. I begged her to stay with me and just hold on. Now I stand alone in this world watching as the woman I love, the one I saw myself spend the rest of my life with, being put in the ground. I show no emotion; too afraid to cry. I wait until everyone is gone. I walk to her. I can't take it anymore. I fall to my knees letting all emotion show. Letting the rain hit my back and tear-stained face.
Flashback
"God Troy! You just don't understand! Going to New York could be the best thing that's ever happened to me!" Gabriella yelled.
"What about me! What am I supposed to do with my life?" Troy yelled.
"They're giving me a full scholarship" she whispered.
"Fine! Just go!" He screamed.
Troy walked out and slammed the door behind him. He walked past his house; and crossed the street. Once on the other side he stopped as her heard Gabriella's voice.
"Troy wait!" she yelled. She ran into the street.
"Troy I love you" she said.
Troy stood there wanting to say he loved her too. Wanting to help her stop crying. He stepped off the curb; onto the street. He stopped as he saw lights coming towards Gabriella.
"Gabriella!" he yelled. It was too late. He ran to her and held her in his arms.
"Gabriella I'm so sorry" he cried.
"No Troy, I'm sorry" she replied. Troy shook his head.
"Don't leave me" he cried. Gabriella smiled.
"Troy, find a woman and make her as happy as you have made me" she said. Troy cried harder.
"No, Gabriella you're the only one for me" he said.
"If you love me, just……let me go" she whispered. She was getting weaker. Her eyes flickered.
"Troy…..I…….love…..you" she whispered. Her body went limp. Troy closed her eyes and kissed her one last time.
"I will always love you" he whispered.
End of Flashback
I got up and wiped my tears. I looked up in the sky and watched as the rain poured down.
"Always" I said.
