Wolf and Man

O great wolf

How you run at night

All wild and free

No burdens to bear

Because you are free

The winter night doesn't faze you

In any way

Because you remain warm

In the coldest of days

The thrill of the hunt

To stay alive

Is a life lesson

We all must abide

You sleep in your den

Protecting your pups

And watching them play

Till the end of the day

When times are harsh

You know what to do

For the safety of the pack

You do what you have to do

When all is calm at night

You howl to the moon at the strike of midnight

I stare out my window as you howl again

You then turn towards me and gave me a grin

And I'll remember that day

When you became my friend

Now I run with you in the midst of night

Underneath the starry sky

And when our life comes to an end

I'll know you'll be there

Because you are my friend
