Tell Me No Lies

An NCIS Fic.

Through the perilous ups and downs of their long, complicated relationship, Tony and Gibbs have told many lies, mostly to each other. The following are but a few:

All my wives said the same thing: I live up to the second B. (Only one said it stood for Brave.)

I'm not really good with kids. (At least, not anymore.)

I don't need you to stay. (But I would really like it if you did because I don't think I'll last until morning.)

Take Ziva out. Stop flirting and just get it over with. (Please see the jealousy written across my face.)

I think we've just met the fourth ex-wife. (There is no way Gibbs will marry her, not if he's with me.)

The team needs you to live. (I want you to live so that I can tell you what I've been meaning to say for years.)

It wasn't a big deal. (It was the most important day of my life, and you missed it.)

Yeah, I like working on the boat. (Yeah, I love sleeping with you underneath.)

I'll always be there for you. (Except when I take your heart and rip it to shreds.)

I'm not jealous. (It's just that I want to punch him every time I see you together.)

They haven't noticed a thing. (Abby is recording every second of this conversation to make sure we aren't breaking up.)

I'm being completely honest. (Because you couldn't handle the truth.)

Tonight means absolutely nothing. (I will never forget tonight, and I will always wish it had lasted forever.)

It doesn't matter. (This had better be the most important explanation you ever give.)

I don't feel the guilt anymore. (It's eating me up inside.)

I gave up the alcohol. (Unless you're working late.)

I forgive you. (You know I never could.)

I understand why you didn't tell me. (So, the trust thing is gone now, right?)

This isn't more than what it is. (Sleeping with you was the best thing in my life.)

I don't want a relationship. (Are you free on Friday night?)

I've never had sex on a first date. (That you know of.)

I can't wait. (Tomorrow should never come.)

I haven't had time to miss you. (I haven't had time to forget.)

I love the way your eyes lie. (It speaks volumes about our issues.)

I love you. (Work it out for yourself.

I'm done.)

A/N: This took on a life of its own. I don't know if I'm happy with the format, but I like the idea.

I leave it up to you, dear readers, to figure out who says what. Some are self-explanatory, others, not so much. Some come from actual dialogue, some don't.
