(A/N: Well, I was listening to "Better than Before" and wondering why Natalie was on the swim team, 'cause she just doesn't seem like a swim team person to me. So…I wrote this. Enjoy!)

Normal Life

"Hey, Nat, aren't try-outs for the swim team this week?" Dan asks Natalie as they sit down for dinner.

Natalie shrugs. "How should I know? And don't call me Nat."

"Sorry." Dan keeps forgetting that Natalie's been trying to get rid of that nickname since she started high school a few weeks ago. "Anyway, I was thinking, you should be on the swim team. It would be a good way to meet some friends."

"I dunno. I'm not really a swimmer."

"But you could be a swimmer, if you were on the team." Dan smiles at his daughter, hoping he looks convincing.

"Fine," Natalie agrees reluctantly. Sometimes it's easier just to go along with her dad's crazy ideas than question them. Even though she really has no clue what's going on with this one.

"Great!" Dan exclaims. "I'm sure you'll have a great time!"

He can only hope that maybe this swim team will be a way for Natalie to finally have a taste of a normal life.
