I do not own Naruto.

Fridge-Magnetting

Life as a ninja was definitely hard. In addition to the fact missions took most of one's time, there was also the always present risk of death and grave injuries, the wayfaring that could last for days and the tiresome reports that needed to be delivered to the Hokage office as soon as possible.

Naruto wasn't different from his teammates in this regard. Being at the prime of his physical strength on his twentieth-five year of life, he barely had the time to rest and spend time with his wife, Hinata. It wasn't rare for him to arrive late at night only to leave a few moments later without the opportunity to catch her awake, and of course it irritated him immensely as no one could deny that the Uzumaki shinobi was a very communicative person and needed constant attention.

And that was how the habit of communicating through fridge magnets in the shape of tiny letters was born.

Hinata would gather the small objects in the morning before heading off to the hospital, where she worked at the pediatric ward, and Naruto would read the messages when he got home, always replying with smiley faces and crazy drawings. That somehow prevented their relationship to become tedious and distant.

But saving their love wasn't the only thing the small letter-shaped magnets did.

On a particular dawn, when the Uzumaki arrived at three in the morning in much hurry to leave again, tossing all the clean clothes he found in the laundry room – he would never disturb his beloved's sleep – inside a bag, he quickly made a stop at the kitchen to grab a small snack before taking off. There, he found sandwiches already made to go on the table and quickly put one whole inside his mouth as he kept his hands free in order to open the fridge and fetch the milk jar. However, his hand stopped at the knob and his eyes widened as he read the small note in the fridge's door:

'Naruto-kun, I'm pregnant.' – Hinata

The sandwich on his mouth soon fell on the floor and he stood still for long minutes with his jaw almost reaching the ground, until he realized what that small piece of information really meant, and when he turned around to meet his wife, surprisingly she was already standing at the doorframe, smiling with arms wide open for him.

Naruto's first reaction was to close the distance between them in a few quick steps, kneel before his wife and hug her brains out in the tightest way he could without actually hurting her.

"I'M GOING TO BE A FATHER!" He screamed at the top of his lungs, waking all the neighbors up. "I'M GOING TO BE A FATHER! I'M HAVING A KID!"

Hinata, on the other hand, only laughed, shaking her head in resignation. She would have to apologize to a lot of people in the morning, but she couldn't be mad with him. After all, her Naruto-kun would be always like that, unable to express himself with only soundless gestures.
