A young girl was sitting at the edge of the calm ocean waters. Swimming at her feet was the electric fish, Chinchou. "Choo, are you ready?" She rose up from the sandy ground, stretching her arms towards the setting Summer sun. Today was Brie's tenth birthday--and that meant she could finally go to explore her native planet as a Pokemon trainer! "Chin, chou chou!" The water Pokemon said in excitement. They both would get to leave the sleepy coastal town of Sierre (because it is such a popular fishing spot; most refer to it as Angler's Isle). Brie held her Chinchou in her arms as she ran back to the cottage that her father shared with her. "Papa? Choo and I are back home!" Ten tiny lights flickered in the home made cake that Brie's father had baked for his daughter on her special day.

"Make a wish, hon." Brie's father said to her. "I wish..." She trailed off and blew out the candles. "Now go see the mailman, I'm pretty sure he has a birthday gift for you." Brie laughed as she ate a slice of chocolate cake. "I'm going to go see Mr. Hughes now for my gift. Thank you, Papa." Brie hugged her father and then she ran out to greet the mail man for her surprise.

"Oh, Brie, happy birthday! I hear that today is the begining of your Pokemon journey. Your father and I pooled our money for this, and it got in last night." The postman handed over a package wrapped in brown paper. Brie opened up the boxed product and removed the foam that encased it. "Whoa, a PokeGear!" Brie said as she opened up the gadget and turned on the power. Her eyes scanned the instruction booklet thouroghly. "Cool, I can call home, too! Thanks Mr. Hughes." Brie waved to the kind man as she exited the mailroom. It was begining to get dark, and she was tired.

"Good night, Choo." Brie said, letting her Chinchou rest and reserve its energy for the upcoming morning inside a roomy tank of water. "Chou, chin chou," it said in reply. Brie closed her eyes, eager to reach the next day...

In her deam, Brie reminisced of when her mother gave her a fishing rod and she caught her first pokemon--Choo the Chinchou. Looking back it seemed like such a long time ago, even though it was only a few months. Choo and Brie are good buddies, friends forever--and tomorrow, they will put thier teamwork to the test.

The sun's rays shone through the glass into Brie's bedroom. She took a brown and orange bag and packed it with all the supplies she'd be needing for her journey. Choo was already awake inside the tank and was ready for action. "Choo, let's go, I can smell Papa's bacon!" She picked up the Chinchou in her amrs and took it downstairs where they ate thier meals--Pokemon pellets for Choo and bacon and eggs for Brie. "Well I see our new trainer is up and at'em."

"Yes, Papa." Brie replied, eating up her food as fast as she can. "I registered your mother and I's phone number on the PokeGear. If you need anything, call home. Your mom should be returning from her fishing trip soon so she'll call your number when she gets back. Remember, Choo is your partner in this. He'll help you in tough situations. Without him, I wouldn't let you go on your adventure."

Brie reached into her backpack and let Choo back inside his pokeball. He never really went inside of it, but it was his home away from Brie's arms. The duo were unmistakable newbies. Brie's sneakers were still brand new and her clothes were nice and clean. "I can see that I have a long way to go."
