"Dinner is ready!" Emily called to her boyfriend feeling proud of herself.

When she didn't hear footsteps coming toward the kitchen she slowly walked out.

He was standing directly in front of the door. "Joe?" She asked curiously, "Dinner is on the table."

Still he stood there in silence. She walked closer to him. Close enough for her to grab his elbow. "Hey are you okay?"

" Yeah, I'm fine." He kept his head down and his eyes locked on the floor.

"Whats going on? You're being weird." She tried to make him look at her but still it was no use. He kept his gaze to the floor.

"I'm leaving." He pulled his hood up as he spoke.

This only confused her more. She grabbed his arm tighter. "What do you mean leaving? Where are you going?"

He only answered with one word. "Away." He grabbed the knob of the front door and let his hand rest there as if he was thinking wether he should go or not. Without any further hesitation he quickly turned the knob and pulled the door open. He stared into the cold rainy day.

The air sent chill bumps down Emily's legs, since she only had on shorts and Joe's old hoodie. She saw a cab slowly pull up in front of their house and stop. 'God, he's serious' she thought.

"Joe!" She pulled his arm roughly making him completely face her, yet his eyes still avoided her. "What's going on?! Where are you going?!"

He didn't say anything just grabbed both of her hands in his and took a deep breath.

"Is it me?" Her voice changed from loud and enraged to soft and shaky.

He shook his head slowly taking another deep breath. He let go of her hands and grabbed Emily by the waist and pulled her into a slow, passionate kiss.

She felt herself weaken as he held her while the kiss lasted longer than they both expected. After a while the cab honked long and loud, interrupting their kiss.

"Please, don't go." Tears threatened to fall from her eyes as she tried to blink them back.

"Please Joe, I need you." This time the tears did fall.

He finally made eye contact with her as she looked up. When her eyes met his, her heart broke even more. She could see the pain, agony, frustration, hurt and love in his eyes all at the same time. She knew. At that very moment she knew, she saw in his eyes that he didn't want this but it had to be done.

She didn't understand why he had to leave her. He was everything to her and he was just gonna rested his forehead against hers and closed his eyes.

"I have to go now." He kissed the tip of Emily's nose, told her he loved her and walked out the door.

She watched while he made his way to the cab. He got in and looked back to Emily, his eyes filled with desperation. She saw him mouth "I'm sorry", but she just shook her head disappointed.

Emily slammed the door before the cab pulled off. As soon as the door shut she felt everything inside her fall apart. She was angry at him.

He could've talked to her. They could have worked it out. But no, he just left. Didn't tell her anything. Just walked out on her.

Out of everyone that abandoned her, never had she thought Joe would be one...
