It had been a pretty average night at Gregory House for the pink lizard known as Catherine. She slowly walked down the dark halls, humming to herself. She held a large needle under her arm. It was almost completely quiet, save for the soft pats of her feet and creaking of the wooden floorboards. It was almost completely dark, except the blueish-greenish light from the large glass windows, and the soul that swirled around her form. Her body swayed slightly as she walked.

Word had spread around the hotel that a young boy, about 13, had allied with that rotting feline in the locked metal room to collect the guest's souls. Catherine groaned. She didn't really know much about that pest, except for it's annoying shrieks and howls during storms, keeping almost every guest awake. Catherine included.

She actually saw the boy an hour ago. She was making her rounds of the hotel, when she heard the cat talking to somebody. Naturally, she got curious. She looked around. After all, she didn't want anybody...snooping. She silently pressed her ear to the cold, metal door.

"Huh, so if you collect each of the guest's souls...you return to reality? Hm, alright. But I must warn you, the guests won't give up their souls easily. You might have to spy on them, figure out their weaknesses first."

Catherine chuckled, "Oh, so you want my soul, don't you..? Well, you won't get it so easily."

She shook the memory out of her head. She had to keep an eye out for that kid. She didn't really see him, but still, she would love to take some of his blood...

The boy, apparently, was to collect souls. She remembered Gregory giving her one.

"Keep this safe, and protect it with your life!" he warned.

Her train of thought was abruptly interrupted. She had slipped on something. It all happened so fast. She let out a shriek as she was sent plummeting to the ground.

She landed with a THUD. Her entire body was sent into pain as it hit the floor. All Catherine could feel was pain. And everything blacked out.

When she regained her conscience, her eyes snapped open. She let out a groan of pain. Her head ached. She sat up to find a small yellow banana peel at her feet. She let out a gasp. Who in the right mind could've done such a horrid act? Catherine quickly, but shakily, stood up. She looked around.

Her soul was gone.
