A/N: Eponine is one of my favourite characters from Les Miserables, and I've always found her death scene with Marius very touching and sad. This is just a little poetic drabble of what Eponine might have thought (some of it could be spoken/sung) as she died in his arms.
I do not own Les Miserables.
Eponine's Soliloquy
A flower of red blooms beneath my hand,
Lights start to fade in flickers of black.
Good Monsieur, do you see me now?
Do you see your friend 'Ponine?
Your messenger, your confidante?
Oh Monsieur, do you see me?
The banner of red looks like blood on high,
The spilled gunpowder is course and black.
Will rain fall to wash it away?
Can it cleanse you of your woe?
Why does the rain fall with sadness?
Does it not make the flowers grow?
The cobbles run red with our sacrifice,
My world is fading away to black.
Won't you hold me in your arms now?
Good Monsieur, should I feel scared?
Is that your kiss on my head, Sir?
Marius, did you know I cared?
