I don't own Pern, much though I wish I did.
So…don't know where this came from, don't know if there'll be anymore, but here it is anyway. Lessa's one of my favorite characters from the dragonrider series, but I don't like Aramina all that much; I'm pretty much in it for the dragons. XD

The dragons were never truly silent. Their voices were always there, whispering the world over for those who could hear.
Lessa and Aramina have always heard.
Their voices made Aramina a hermit, sent her running as far as she could run, seeking silence, isolation, distraction from the draconic chorus ever murmuring in the back of her mind.
They made Lessa a queen; raised her up from nothing into the sky, and she reveled in them, glorying in their sound, in the song they sang to her soul.
Aramina spent her life trying to hide from them, to block out their words until she could hear nothing in her own head but blessed silence. Lessa spent her life listening, learning their voices, their tones, learning to differentiate and to focus.
In running, Aramina never stopped hearing. In listening, Lessa learned to hear.

Yeah. So short. Anyway, review if you liked it; no flames. ~ Seeker
