A Goodnight's Sleep

A/N: Here's another VMars drabble-y ficlet. This little drabble just came to me while I was listening to my iPod (with my brand new headphones, which I had been without for weeks!) and the song A Goodnight's Sleep came on…the song had nothing to do with this, but the title inspired this. I actually like it. So enjoy. R&R! Thanks! –Mac

Disclaimer: I don't own VMars.

A Goodnight's Sleep

Logan hadn't had a goodnight's sleep in years. Even when he was the most comforted—after his father was arrested and he had Veronica back in his life—he still found some nights he couldn't sleep. He would lay in bed, staring at the ceiling as the numbers on his clock ticked away regardless. Even when he did sleep—and that was mostly only when he was so exhausted that he could barely stand—he tossed and turned, and woke up the next morning feeling as if he hadn't slept a wink anyway.

He knows it's probably wrong (what isn't in his life?) and it probably made him a terrible person, but when he gets the news of his father's unexpected departure from the earthy realm the most prominent emotion he feel is relief. Sure, he feels a slight twinge of pain to know that he has lost his last remaining family member (because Trina didn't really count did she), but he downplays that with a casual joke about Orphan Annie or something, he can't really remember. All he knows is that sometime between finding out Veronica's father wasn't dead and finding out his was, he had Veronica back and at that time that was all that really mattered. He couldn't help but be relieved, not after all his father had done.

That night, he slept like a baby. Justice had been served.
