A/N: a teeny tiny ficlet thingo i wrote when i was bored today but i thought of it ages ago. Basically looking at daleks and their feelings (or lack of). Non-specific location and non-specific time although i suppose it could be during the war that was my intention.
Daleks don't have feelings
The machine glided smoothly towards the humanoid. The machine's readouts indicated its heart was beating twice its normal rate it was perspiring, panting and adrenaline was being pumped through its body. In other words it was afraid. If daleks could smirk it would have done so as it cried "EXTERMINATE" and the man fell limp. The Dalek moved away down the grey corridor.
It wasn't sure why it fought exactly, of course all Daleks fought to assert their dominance throughout the universe and for the glory of the Dalek Empire. But it was unsure of the reasons for this skirmish.
Orders came direct from the emperor. Proceed to the complex the Dalek now found itself in and exterminate all organic life it found.
It had felt something as the humanoid cowered awaiting death; a sort of pity, the Dalek paused. Why did it feel pity for the man that lay behind it? Its eyestalk rotated to face the man; the Dalek considered him for a second and turned back around. It felt pity because he died cowering against a wall with no pride or dignity as a Dalek would. The Dalek considered that last thought. It had no idea where that notion of equality had come from.
The Dalek dismissed all thoughts from its mind as a young humanoid ran past; as it began pursuit it felt something. As the humanoid raced away and the Dalek sped up to catch the girl it felt something. A sort of delight. As she became more distressed her screams became higher pitched and her path became more erratic this only spurred the Dalek on more. That feeling if it could be called a feeling, (Daleks don't feel after all) felt euphoric and a sort of delightful exhilaration … was it glee? If Daleks could shrug it would have done so before it cried, "EXTERMINATE"
