Disclaimer: I don't own Sherlock. If I did, we would get a scene with Mycroft and Lestrade in it together.

This is either implied slash or strong friendship. Whichever you perfer.

He watches them from a distance. They're leaning on each other and his brother is tired, hasn't been eating, lost weight much too fast, on leave from work and Lestrade is tired, hasn't been sleeping, worried and upset, on leave from work as well.

His eyes travel back to Mycroft. Lestrade wraps an arm around Mycroft, who doesn't shake it off like he normally would. He swallows back a sour taste. Mycroft is showing a vulnerability that makes his skin crawl, his insides twist and there's a reason that his brother is called the Ice Man after all.

(looks like the Ice Man is melting without his little brother.)

He feels a strong stab of guilt but he pushes it aside. No time for that.

From his place, he sees there's no umbrella in Mycroft's hand and his lips curl into a bitter half-smile at this. Because it was he who gave the older Holmes the umbrella.

"Sentimental, Mycroft?" he asks, quietly. "Who would have thought?" He grabs a fistful of his hair, (ginger, too ginger, what would John think?) and resists the urge to pull a cigarette from his pocket. It's been three months since his death, and he's taken up smoking again to get through the drug cravings (he won't do that to John).

His fingers play with the dog-tags he's wearing around his neck. (John's of course and don't think about John, no, don't think about him, too painful, doing this for him, he'll move on, don't think about John.)

"Take care of him," he mutters softly as he watches Lestrade lead Mycroft (fragile, supposed to be the strong one, what's happening, doing this for all of them.) back to the car. He's not sure who he's issuing his plea to.

As Mycroft and Lestrade get into the car, his resistance fails and he lights a cigarette. (Never has been good at resisting temptation.) He stands there, watches the car drive away and, for a few moments, just lets himself to breath in the comforting smoke of his cigarette.

Eventually, he stubs it out with his foot. If he wants to come back to them, it's time to get to work.
