Summary: This is set after today's episode (August 11, 2006) after Belle tells Shawn goodbye. This will end up being AU and will also end up as a Shelle fic so if you don't like Shelle then this probably isn't the story for you.
Belle walked out of the garage in tears and once she had gotten to her car she just completely broke down. She didn't want to do it. She couldn't let him go. She had just lied to Shawn to make it easier for him and Mimi and for her to try and be happy with Phillip because she had to face it. She had chose Phillip and had Claire with him. As much as she wanted to be with Shawn she knew that she only had their unborn baby to hold onto now. That and a whole lot of memories. She just couldn't stand making him and everyone else around her miserable so she had to do it. She had to say goodbye to him. Or at least, make everyone think she did. When in her heart she knew that she could never let him go or the love that they share for each other and she knows that he loves her. "Why did I do this to myself?" She asked herself out loud.
Shawn had every intention of telling Belle not to leave but once he got out the door something held him back. He had made a commitment to Mimi. He had stood in front of his family and friends and vowed to be true to her. And now here he was having second thoughts. He didn't know why but he just was. Belle had always been his true love even when they were kids he had always liked her and had always had a thing for her and then finally, in High School, they got together and everything seemed perfect. He knew that they had been through some ups and downs and had still managed to be together through it all. And now, the one thing they had always dreamed of was happening. Having a baby together. What could he possibly do? It wouldn't be right to leave Mimi. But, it also wouldn't be right to stay trapped in a marriage with someone he didn't love. Not like her loved Belle. He cared for Mimi and he had love for her but he just wasn't in love with her. Even though he had told Belle that his heart and soul was with Mimi, he had lied. Because he thought that was what she wanted to hear. "How did it get to be this way?" He asked himself out loud.
