Remus felt pain unlike anything he had ever felt before, it was as if everything in his body was on fire. He didn't think he could stand it and then quite suddenly he felt no more. Remus Lupin knew he was dead.

But somehow, inexplicably he was floating. Floating away from the fighting, the madness below him, floating higher and higher. Experimentally he lifted a hand, stretching it out, but it was not his own hand, at least not as he had seen it in many years, this hand had none of the scars he was use to seeing. This hand was perfect. Remus Lupin was a smart man and he knew what was happening.

Lily was the first to greet him when he got there, to the most beautiful place he had ever seen, she came running, her red hair-and her husband-trailing behind her. "Remus!" She said throwing her arms around him. "Please tell me he's okay"

"Last I saw he was fine." Remus told her pushing away so he could get a good look at her. She looked more beautiful than he remembered.

"Lily, let me see him." James said, finally coming into view and pulling him into a hug as soon as Lily let go. "I've missed you."

"I've missed you too Prongs." Remus said, and although it was true there was only one person he really wanted to see.

"Remus, it's really wonderful to see you, even though we know what this means." Came a voice Remus recognized, though it was less tired than he had heard it years. He pushed away from yet another hug to see a smiling Albus Dumbledore, only this one was much younger than he remembered, his long hair still auburn. Remus wondered what he looked like.

Remus didn't respond, he wasn't trying to be rude but honestly, where was he? Everyone else seemed to know he was here, why hadn't he come? He looked around in vain, no one else he recognized had come yet, though he suspected if he didn't get away soon many people would.

Dumbledore seemed to understand what was going on, the same in death as he had been alive, "He is waiting for you, if you walk in that direction, you'll find him." He whispered, his face alive and smiling.

With a nod Remus complied, his feet moving in the direction Dumbledore had pointed, though there was a lump in his throat, he had thought of this day many times, even come close to wishing for it, but he had always run to him. Remus had never had to go looking for him in his thoughts.

And there he was, looking more beautiful than Remus had ever seen him, young with sparkling eyes and pale skin.

"Remus." He whispered, "Remus." He took a step forward tentatively.

"You didn't come and see me." Remus accused, his stomach doing flip-flops.

"I didn't want you to die Remus. That would have been selfish, I wanted you to live a long life." he told him solemnly.

Remus simply couldn't stand it any longer, not after years, he'd waited years before and it had nearly killed him, and now, he thought, ironically, it really had. He closed the gap in two long strides, pulling him into a hug. "Sirius Black, without you it isn't much of a life."

Lips came crashing down onto his, the lips he had missed for so long. He could feel the moisture and taste the salt from the tears on Sirius' face, though he suspected they were from happiness, because he knew the tears he was crying were pure joy. Never again could they be separated, never again would they have to worry. Life had been cruel, ripping them apart not once but twice, but now they would never have to worry. Now they could be happy, without fear.

"Welcome home." Sirius whispered hugging Remus tight, as though he never wanted to let him go, and if he didn't that was fine with Remus.

"I love you." Remus responded, "I love you, I love you, I love you."
