Tomorrow Never Dies

By Madisonne

[Author's Note: This is a rather short, angsty fic about getting away from it all, everything that causes anyone pain, written to the song 'Tomorrow Never Dies' from the James Bond film by the same title, sang by Sheryl Crow. The writing is rather choppy and seems poorly done, but I did mean it to be that way... As always, I own none of the characters portrayed here and suing me would not be worth the trouble you'd go through. [ ]'s indicate song lyrics, italics represent memories, and empty lines indicate either a break for lyrics or a time lapse. Enjoy!]

He felt nothing at first, but then, as he glanced, confused, down at his arms, he felt the pain. White-hot lances of pain, shooting up his arms.

Gasping raggedly, he let the blood-covered knife clatter to the floor. He doubled over, his arms cradled between his chest and his knees.

He bit his lip, determined not to scream, for fear of the others hearing and stopping him in his intended course of action, or lack thereof.

He watched, with pleasure almost sadistic in nature, as the blood pooled out around him. He felt, for the first time in his life, detached from the world, his body crashing to the floor.

[Darlin' I'm killed

I'm in a puddle on the floor

Waitin' for you to return]

He felt himself slipping, memories floating through his head.

"I'll never... Never leave you..."

"Trust... Don't you...? Believe in me..."

"This is for your own good..."

"You know you make me do this..."

"Cry?!! Teach you... Weak..."

"I don't know... Just don't hate me..."

"Learn... Grow..."

"Hate!!! ...Never, never..."

[Oh what a thrill

Fascination's got a lure

How you tease

How you leave me to burn]

"I'm sorry..."

"You deserve..."

"Hate!!! ...Never, never..."

He muffled his pain-filled sobs with the back of his hand. All pain, suffering... Now. Now it will come to an end... Never care again... Great love only leads to great pain...

The pain was starting to fade now, as well as his consciousness.

[It's so deadly

My dear

The power of wanting you near]

He thought of the first day he knew he was in love. His life seemed so right, so inexplicably right, as he shyly and quietly revealed his true feelings.

For a whiled, he'd been happy. Then, he started to have to wear excess clothing to cover up bruises.

"Say it. Convince me. Say that you love me!"

"It would only be words."

He felt the world crash around him as that last, rather new, upsetting memory flitted through his brain.

[But until that day

Until the world falls away

Until you say they'll be no more goodbyes

I've seen it in your eyes

Tomorrow Never Dies]

He was fading away fast, away from the pain, humiliation, and suffering. He smiled as he recalled the peace he was headed for.

The sound of his door being broken open didn't faze him. He knew he was beyond help. Still, his heart skipped a beat as Heero walked in, calling his name.

He looked up to see a distraught-looking Heero sand over him, grieving evident. "Christ... I never... Never thought... You'd... You would..."

Wufei smirked as he felt his body shut down; he looked up into the watery eyes of Heero. With his last breath he whispered, "Tomorrow never dies..."
