Harry walked through the portrait hole and back into the Gryffindor
commonroom. He had just been talking to Professor Dumbledore, and had
known, even before he had gone, what Dumbledore had wanted to talk to him
about.
"You must tell Hermione and Ron about the prophecy, Harry. They need to know. If you don't they will feel that you are slipping away from them," Dumbledore had said, looking at Harry from behind his desk.
Harry walked over to Ron and Hermione and said, "I need to talk to you two in private, lets go to the Room of Requirement." Ron and Hermione looked at each other and nodded, confused.
A few minutes later they were all together in the Room of Requirement. Harry looked at Ron and Hermione rather sullenly and said, "Do you remember the day that Sirius died?"
Ron spoke up and said, from his cushion, "How could we forget, mate? Its been haunting all of us."
"Well, I found out what the prophecy was about."
Hermione looked at Harry confused, "But it was destroyed, wasn't it?"
Harry looked over at her and said, "It was, but Dumbledore knew what it said, and he told me after I got back to Hogwarts. It basically that Voldemort would have to kill me, unless I kill him first. And neither of us can live while the other one survives." He stared at his shoes, and there was silence around him. Slowly, Hermione reached over and kissed him on the cheek and wrapped her arms around him as he cried. Ron looked scared next to him, and could not provide Harry with any comfort.
