Hayden's eyes watched as the tossed rock skipped over the water finally sinking after the tenth. He sat there in thought. "Why? Why couldn't they have told me?" Tears fell from the boys emerald eyes and rolled down his cheeks. "If only I had known if only…." He looked up at the sun which was setting behind the great blue ocean. It was a pretty sunset, with all the blues, pinks, and yellows.
"If you keep on fretting over this Hayden you'll never be able to move on, trust me." Athrun Zala said walking up from behind him. "It's pretty isn't it?" Hayden nodded in agreement.
"It…it's so natural though Athrun."
"Hayden…."
Hayden stood up and started pacing along the shoreline. He couldn't understand it. His whole life was so simple and peaceful. Now he couldn't even look himself in the mirror. It was as if his whole life was a complete and utter lie. "I…why? Why couldn't they tell me I was a coordinator? It would have made my life easy"
"STOP IT!" Athrun yelled grabbing Hayden by the collar of his T-Shirt. "Stop whining, this is not who you are Hayden." His eyes narrowed staring into Haydens. He wanted to look away, but something in Athruns eyes stopped him. This really wasn't like him, not at all. Maybe Athrun was right. "Listen and breathe. There really is no difference between naturals and coordinators. We are both people and that's all that matters, one is no more special than the other." Athrun let go of Hayden and walked towards the ocean. "If we can't learn to accept each other, how will we ever find peace in the world?
Hayden understood. In general he was just afraid of being different. SO many bad things have happened because of people just being different. Junius seven and the holocaust were just a few for example. Hayden just didn't want to get hurt like all of his friends and family had before him.
"Thanks Athrun."
Athrun turned and smiled. "Ya anytime, now don't we have a birthday party to attend?"
It was true. Today was Haydens 17th birthday. Which also just happened to be the day that his Grandmother told him he was a coordinator. All his life Hayden was under the impression that he was a natural and by impression that meant his parents (who were naturals) concealed the fact that their son was a coordinator. His grandmother knew as well but waited until she figured he was mature enough to handle this small teeny tiny fact.
The two boys began back to the house. Hayden felt a little relieved thanks to Athrun. "Can I ask you a question Hayden?"
"Uh sure?" Hayden replied.
"There's something going on in orb right now as well as with the Zaft forces and personally I do not like it. This whole war thing its nuts and I don't think something is up to par." Hayden indeed felt the same way, yet he had no clue as to where Athrun was going with this. "I'm going to talk to Chairman Durandel tomorrow. I know it's last second but I think you need to see more of a Coordinators life." Hayden knew at last where he was going and smiled. Athrun got the hint and nodded. " Alright than we leave in the morning."
"Alright than we leave in the morning." The radio echoed. "Got you Mr. Zala." A young girl said standing up on a nearby cliff. It was the perfect scheme and she would be the only one to pull it off.
"Miss Beardsley. Mission accomplished?" A voice said behind her. She turned dropping her hood revealing her long blue hair giving a slight wink with her right eye.
"Mission Accomplished."
