Part I - Love and Loss
"Cole! Move out of the way!" I screamed as I watched the fire engulf our house. I still couldn't believe it, that place had been our home for almost 6 years, Hank was in there our pet dog. That's when I saw him running out out of the back door, just in time before the fire totally destroyed our home.
"Hello Boy," I murmured as I leaned down and scratched behind his ear. He started to lick my hand before I picked him up in my arms, I looked over at Cole as he just watched the firemen do their jobs and the police department was doing theirs.
"Prentiss," Said the chief of the department coming over to us, I knew who was meaning and I turned to look at him. I nodded at him.
"We need you back at the station, ASAP." She said and I nodded putting Hank in Cole's arms before walking beside the chief to his cruiser. I chewed on the edge of my cheek as we drove down to the station.
"What's up?" I asked, looking over at Chief Summers. He looked at me once more before focusing his attention on the road again.
"Kids are going missing and turning up dead, so we've asked the BAU to join us." Said the chief, and I nearly jumped out of my whits. I hadn't seen my sister, whom was in the BAU since 7 years ago and I wasn't about to meet up with her under this circumstances but I now have to.
Summer's saw my change in behaviour and sighed, "I know you haven't seen Emily in 7 years, but you're going to have to get over it and learn to trust her again," She said and I sighed as we pulled into the car park.
We walked into see Jade Wallace talking to the BAU, "There was a fire so our chief was out at that specific house fir-" She was about to say when she caught my eye, "Oh thank god," She sighed under her breath before running over to me and throwing her arms around me.
Nearly making the both of us fall back onto the cold concrete floor, once I managed to steady myself again I chuckled lightly. "Hey, I'm fine. I got out of there before anything could happen," I said, giving her a tight lipped smile.
Looking behind her, I found no sight of Emily with the team. In which I was happy about, I saw two men working on the rolling boards and Jade looked at me, "We'd better introduce you since you're the lead detective on this case." She said and I nodded before we started walking over to them.
"Agents," Said Jade and the two turn to look at me, One was taller than the other. The shorter one had short brown hair, chocolate hazel eyes. He was athletically built and was good looking, the one beside him had black hair, and dark eyes that you could basically see a little to no light in. "This is Maddison," She said and I held out my hand.
"If you need anything, I'll be around somewhere." I said, giving them a tight lipped smile like the one that I had given Jade when I came in before turning on my heel and starting to walk out, "What are your names?" I asked, curiously.
"Luke Alvez," Said the one on the right.
"Aaron Hotchner," the one on the left answered and I nodded before heading straight back to my office and jumping into my leather seat and opening the file. Sometimes looking up at the photo that sat on my desk, I finally closed the file and picked up the picture and ran my fingers over the younger looking girl in the picture then over the older one. This was my last picture of me and Emily.
I felt myself go back into a memory but I refused to resurface that specific one. My childhood was okay, being an ambassadors child was okay, but this memory had to do with my old choice of work. A knock on my door, took me out of my daydream and I looked up to see Luke there. "Can I help you?" I asked and he nodded.
"There's been another murder, Summers told me to take you." He said and I nodded, grabbing my gun and pushing it in my holster. I pushed past him and walked out, almost straight into Jade who was standing typing on her phone next to my door, I narrowed my eyes at her before doing a fake cough catching her attention.
I saw her blush a little, and I instantly knew who she was texting. "Cole again?" I said, teasingly. This time, she narrowed her eyes at me before going to slap me with the file that she had in her hand.
"Victor Blake, 10 years old and fits the victimology off the killer." Said Jade and I nodded before grabbing the file out of her hands, handing Luke the photo of the kid. I then read through the file as I walked down the stairs without even looking up.
"How can you walk down the stairs without even looking up?" Luke asked and I turned to look at him, and just as I was about to open my mouth.
"You know 68% of people can actually walk down the stairs without looking up?" Rain Coles's voice, rung through the room making me close my eyes. "Let's just say Maddison, has had a lot of practise and knows where the stairs are," She said before hurrying off in the other direction.
"Rain Coles, our resident genius." I mustered as we got to the bottom of the stairs.
"Like Reid," He said.
"Made for one another probably," I snorted, making him chuckle before we headed out to the SUV.
Fact said by Rain, is totally made up. It's not true and I wouldn't try walking down the stairs without looking up. Anyway, first chapter of Star Crossed done and you can probably tell that this is set in season 12-13.
