Utterly Unexpected

A/N: Okay I got this idea from an episode of friends and Vegeta is going to be WAY out of character at the end but hopefully I do okay! Also I'm still at the very beginning of the Cell Saga so I might have some details missing, I'm sorry!
Bulma is due to give birth any day and this will probably be the biggest relief in Vegeta's life. Frieza himself would cower at the raw rage of a expecting Bulma. Vegeta spent most of his time in the gravity chamber not to train but to escape the demands for food that even Goku would turn his nose at.
But soon this would all be over because Vegeta would soon have a son and somehow that too is terrifying. Vegeta's memories of his father are slowly but surely fading and Saiyan doesn't have the slightest clue how to be a father. He's a warrior damn it! This was not in the job description!
Vegeta snarls in frustration and looks at Bulma who is sleeping beside him. He will never admit how much he truly loves her; EVER. He wants to do this right, if not for himself but for her. Vegeta lets out a heavy breath and lies back on the mattress. He can't see himself being any kid of decent father at all; he struggles to even be nice at all. This is a nightmare.

The days pass slowly and the tension in Vegeta's body is growing. People are coming and around the Brief's compound and Vegeta is being, as usual, anti-social.
"Vegeta," the Saiyan Prince moans when he hears Goku's voice.
"Kakarot," Vegeta growls. "I am hardly in the mood to for you or anyone else for that matter!" Goku smiles in his usual dorky manor.
"Listen Vegeta," Goku offers. "I know its scary becoming a dad, but trust me it will all make since the first time you see his face." Vegeta is stunned; he thinks that's the first smart thing he has ever heard the other Saiyan say. Vegeta doesn't say anything he just snorts and walks away.
"AAAAAIIIIIIYYYYEEEEEEE," a high pitched scream breaks through the silence. Vegeta runs towards the sound. He finds Bulma gripping the kitchen counter.
"My Water broke," the blue haired woman gasps out.
"What on earth does that mean," Vegeta demands.
"Oh for god sakes you ape," Bulma shrieks. "The baby is coming!" Vegeta stands for a few seconds before the words fully processes with him and when it hits him he goes into full blow panic mode. He is NOT ready for this!

Bulma screams as she grips the Saiyan's hand so tight it hurts him. The Doctors urge her to push and with a pain expression she does. Vegeta bites his lip.
"It's a boy," the doctor exclaims. Bulma lets out a sigh of relief but Vegeta is sent into shock when baby Trunks is put into his arms. Vegeta blinks in confusion and stares down at the strangely purple haired child. He is amazed by how…small this little…thing is. Vegeta reaches his hand to move some of Trunks' wet hair when the baby grabs his finger.
"Wow you're strong," Vegeta laughs. "Well of course you're strong! You're my son!" Bulma weakly smiles as she sees a fatherly smile. Some things are really unexpected in the most wonderful way.
