A/N- This is set sometime before the current season. It will actually work anywhere.

Realistically, all the men in the room knew that Samantha Carter's dance card was filled up for the evening.

But that didn't stop them from asking. And it didn't stop her from politely declining, saying that she was actually rather tired and would prefer to watch the other personnel of the SGC dance the night away.

Everyone in the room also knew that Jack O'Neill would be last man in the room to ask her to dance. They saw her face light up from across the room and watched as she barely contained the excitement in her hastly reply of yes.

They looked on, jealousy, hatred, confusion, and awe on their faces. How could this man, this battle-hardened, old, cynical, son of a bitch get pretty, level-headed Samantha Carter to dance with him?

They were young and studly. He had probably been killing people by the time young Sammie Carter was 15, lying on a blanket in the park with her first boyfriend lying on top of her. While he was busy kissing her neck, a timid hand creeping up her shirt, she was gazing at the stars with a longing, lustful look. One day, she would be up there, and her prince charming would ride out of the wild blue yonder on a black horse.

Then, they looked at the rash Colonel's and the pretty Major's eyes, and the knew.

Jack O'Neill loved Samantha Carter, and Samantha Carter loved Jack O'Neill.

And somehow, everything was right with the world.

Realistically, all the men in the room knew that Samantha Carter's dance card was filled up for the evening.

So they stopped asking.
