Trust.

He's thought about it often in the recent events. Usually trust is earned over a long period of time, through tiny gestures, building upon itself. Yet, sometimes inexplicable things come along that are just big enough to speed that process up, big enough to create a different type of bond. Instead of being woven, it's forged. He knows it takes a unique type of gesture to forge trust like that.
Oh, he knows all too well.

In this case, it came in the form of a bullet. A bullet preventing her half brother from harming a man she had known for less than a month. A bullet molded by her father, but propelled by honest betrayal, and grief, and the echoing knowledge that sometimes you just can't trust past conceptions.
With that bullet, a final shred of innocence was lost and trust was earned.

And rightfully so.

I don't know why I got a sudden urge to write about the early dynamics of Gibbs and Ziva, but here it is. It's just a short little thing, but I hope you enjoy! Like I said, this is my first submission on here, so a review or helpful advice would be so awesome! Tell me what you think of it.
