Author's Note – Just my thoughts on how the Watcher's Council would have handled Faith's case if they had ever gotten a hold on her. Inspired by that scene in 5th season when Quentin Travers decides to test Buffy and as they're talking the female Watcher is serving the men tea (which I found to be kind of sexist, as I'm sure she is a colleague and not a secretary).
The Descent of Man
Quentin Travers checked the time. A quarter past three. His men should have contacted him by now on the situation with Faith. Quentin sighed knowing that the psychotic bitch probably killed them. They were good men who led good lives, and now they were dead because some Slayer couldn't handle a little PMS.
Slayers were dangerous things meant to be controlled. They had all the follies of women, full of ignorance and hysteria, but filled with supernatural strength and endurance. They were less than human, for these girls didn't even possess the qualities that redeem their sex, such as beauty. A life of fighting demons takes a hard toll on women, and it shows painfully on their faces.
Quentin thought ruefully back to his own Slayer that he had trained so long ago. It was 1956 and he was in St. Louis at the time. Dorothy was strong and an able warrior, but crass and vulgar. She would fight vampires in trousers, for pity's sake! He had tried to teach her that just because she was the Slayer, it didn't mean she couldn't be a lady as well. But she had laughed at him and threw away any dresses or skirts he bought for her.
She was an insolent creature, and occasionally violent as well. Prone to tantrums. She had no respect for him or his colleagues. Quentin remembered when Edgar Smith, the Head of the Watcher's Council, came to St. Louis to appraise Dorothy and her latent abilities when she was just a young potential. Quentin had almost lost his job because Dorothy had socked Smith in the eye, claiming that he had touched her inappropriately. Quentin scoffed; Smith had been one of the nicest people he had ever known. He would have never done that. He was a good man.
After that Quentin knew what he had to do. Dorothy had been seventeen when she was called to be the next Slayer and a year later Quentin began performing the spells that were necessary for her to take the Test. After a few days she was completely stripped of her powers, making it easy for Quentin to hold the pillow over her face.
Quentin had screwed up with Dorothy. He had tried to be a good man, but he had gone too soft with her, letting her have her way instead of keeping her controlled and restrained. But it was alright. There were others. When one dies, another rises.
