I sighed as I watched Leafpool slip out of camp. I knew how this would end. I watched her meet up with Crowfeather, watched tails intertwine, heard murmured words of love. I sighed again. I could sympathize with Leafpool. After all, was it not me that stayed beside a flame-pelted tom, even through death? Oh yes, I sympathized. Still, it tore my heart to watch her leave, as much as it had torn my heart to stay.
