Frustrated
They weren't listening, although it wasn't like they ever did. They just stood their, arguing with each other over what he should do, how he should feel.
And Harry hated it. It was so goddamn frustrating he wanted to pull his ears off so he didn't have to hear it. But he didn't let his friends know how he felt. He never did.
"He should go back to school, Ronald! You know how important it is!"
"Go back to school!? Important!? What about healing!? He can't just go back as if nothing happened!"
Ron argued, glaring. Sighing, Harry tuned them out and turned to look at the window.
It was a three weeks after the war and Hermione was pushing the three to go back and finish the year and a half they had missed. She claimed that since Hogwarts started again in four months, it was the perfect amount of time to relax before going back.
Ron, on the other hand, claimed there was no point in going back, especially so close to the end of the war. They didn't need to learn anything, he claimed, and besides, Ron had already be offered a spot in an academy for Aurors and Harry, who had decided to become a medi-wizard after watching all the carnage in the war, had been promised an apprenticeship with a very famous medi-witch and had already planned to higher a tutor for potions beforehand, and would start immediately after the six month break he had planned for himself and his lover in Hawaii.
Hermione, of course, disapproved. And voiced this disapproval. Loudly.
"Would the both of you shut up!"
Harry finally snapped. Surprised, Ron and Hermione immediately quieted down.
"Look, Hermione, whether you like it or not, Ron and I will not be going back to Hogwarts," Harry held up a hand when the bushy haired female moved to protest,"No. This isn't a decision we decided on lightly. We thought it over during the war, we thought it through for months, and decided that if we lived, we wanted to move on with our lives. That we would want to do something that would make us happy, to be selfish for a change instead of putting others wants and needs in front of our own. It took us forever to finally figure out what we wanted to do with out lives, and we did, we found what would make us happy, so, please, don't argue with it. We won't change our minds. Ron and I will be going to Hawaii, we will get married and in six months he will start Auror training, and I medi-wizard training. That's it. No second thoughts, no changing plans."
Not allowing her to protest this, Harry turned to Ron, who was smiling both smugly and warmly. Sighing in exasperation, Harry offered his lover a warm smile.
"Ron, you know I love you, and you were right: but there is no need to rub it in Hermione's face. And I can speak for myself, no matter how much you want to rush to defend me. I'm thankful, don't get me wrong, but there's no need to stat an argument as petty as this, OK?"
Ron nodded with a wince, feeling chastised as he moved to stand by his lover's side sheepishly. Watching them with an odd quietness, Hermione sighed, knowing she had lost this battle.
"Fine, I won't protest anymore. But I expect an invitation to the wedding!"
Hermione huffed, stomping out in a moment of uncharacteristic childishness, pausing briefly at the door and smiling at the sight of Harry and Ron kissing softly before shaking her head and leaving to go back to her own lover.
All she wanted was for them to be happy. If this made them happy, then she would accept it.
After all, at least they weren't dancing around each other anymore and had finally figured out they love each other, right?
