Looking out his window, the Once-ler watched as the building of Thneedsville was under way. The wall was already up and they were now working on the tallest tower. Once-ler looked at it in disgust. He looked around the valley, covered in nothing but tree stumps, trees that will never grow again. He looked up at the dark sky, a sky that the sun will shine though again. He looked down at the now bare river bed, water no longer flowed and all that was left was black goo. Once-ler felt his eyes begin to burn as tears were forming. He turned from the window and walked to the wall that his axe was leaning up agasint. He picked it up and brought the blade up to his finger. With one quick movement he sliced his finger open, blood began to spill out. He placed his now bleeding finger on the wall and began to write a message, a message he was sure that no one would ever see but he had to write it. Once that was done, he turned back towards the window, dragging the axe behind him, he went over to it and sat down. He postined his hands on the deadly tools handel and got ready. The tears were now flowing like a waterfall, as was the blood from his finger, it was deeper then he tought. He had to hurry, his vision was getting blury and he was getting dizzy. As the sound from the contraction began to slow down for the day, Oncler took the axe and swung. The axe hit it's mark, in his neck just under his jaw line. The Once-ler felt the blood come out of his mouth and neck, felt his arms fall to his side, and the rest of his body go limp. With the last of his strenght, he looked up at his message on the wall one last time, "Sorry". The Once-ler's eyes closed and his breathing stopped, forever.
