Lost Hope - A Oneshot by TigerheartWarrior
Leafpool sat at the edge of the cliff. There was a breeze in the air. It brought memories, good and bad, of a time when she had hope. She stared over the edge. The Moonpool below showed a reflection. Only it wasn't her reflection she saw, it was his. His dark gray fur rippled on the magical surface.
"If only I hadn't fallen for you Crowfeather," Leafpool whispered, "Then maybe things could have been different. Maybe I wouldn't want to end it." A tear ran down her cheek. It fell, making a ripple in the water and the face disappeared.
"I broke the warrior code seeing you, and now I've faced the consequences. I know what it's like to hold a secret deep within my heart and never tell anyone. I know what it's like when that secret is revealed. The pain it has caused me to watch the three grow up thinking their mother was someone else. Knowing their mother was me and never telling them. The clan now looks at me like I'm a terrible cat, as if I was Tigerstar."
Leafpool murmured these words out loud, with each step moving closer to the ledge. "I have to end it," she mewed. The she-cat bunched your legs ready to jump.
"Wait! Leafpool!" a voice yowled behind her. She Leafpool did not listen. She jumped.
Pain shot up her spine as teeth bit into her tail and dragged Leafpool back up onto the cliff top. She looked up at the ginger tom. "Father..." she mewed. The she-cat looked up into his eyes. They were soft and comforting.
" Leafpool... I want you know that even though you did the things you did, we still love you."
"You love me?"
"Yes, I've always loved you."
