The day you left me,
You took my heart.
Now all that is left
Is pain and emptiness.
Your face, once required for life
Now haunts my thoughts.
Your voice once calmed my fears,
Now it just tears me apart.
I struggle to live
As the empty shell you left.
I struggle to breath
When your name is mentioned.
Now as I live an empty life –
Fighting the memories of you away –
I cannot remember yesterday,
I cannot remember today.
The purpose of my life now
Is to blot out the memories of you
And to get through the day
Without a conscience thought or action.
I dread the night and the dreams it brings
Of you being with me,
Then leaving so abruptly
And the screams and tears start again.
Everyone avoids me
And my friends fear me.
But I am glad –
That much less of a reminder of you.
