Bella POV:
He stroked my hair as we lay in bed, wrapped up in nothing but flimsy sheets. His bare chest was ice cold against my cheek, and I could almost swear I could hear a heart beating inside there.
"I told you that you wouldn't kill me, Edward" I mumbled with an obviously satisfied grin spreading across my face. "Yes Bella, you were quite right. Wow, I wish that that was the angry grizzly bear that had been waiting for me at home last time!"
He purred with pleasure as I kissed his stomach. "You know, Bella, I'm glad we decided to wait for this." He said, knowing I'd understand what he meant. "I'm glad we did, too" And I was. It felt right this time, knowing that nothing was being rushed into. Like nothing could go very wrong in this world, as long as I stayed right here.
Until it hit me.
"Edward?" I asked a little hesitantly.
"Mmmm?" he murmured as he kissed his way down my neck. "Well, I was sort of wondering, no worrying, you can't get me pregnant, right, Edward?" His ice cold lips froze against my collar bone.
"Of course not, silly girl, how would that be possible? Technically, I've been dead for one hundred and ten years. There's absolutely nothing for you to worry about, love." His tone was sure of itself. He started kissing me again.
What his tone said was not was his lips said. They were nervous, unsure.
