Prologue

Told by the point of view of:

FIREHEART

I sat awake. The rest of the warriors were sleeping, but me. I stared up at Silverpelt and watched the night until I fell into a deep sleep. But this dream had a different feel than the normal "catching-a-mouse" dream. A Treecut monster was coming toward me. I thought I was going to die, but then, a miracle happened.

A flash of bright light lighted the dark forest. I uncontrollably fell to my knees. The Twoleg inside the Treecut monster was gone! Something fell out of it. On the forest floor sat a cat, unconscious from the white flash.

"Fireheart! Wake up!"

I jolted up from my moss bedding. There sat Graystripe. I swiftly darted out the warriors' den. "Where are you going?" Graystripe meowed. "I've got a prophecy. I have to tell Bluestar." I ran to Bluestar's den and said I needed to talk to her. "Yes, Fireheart?"

"I got a strange prophecy." I told her about the dream.

Bluestar gasped. "Even I can't decode that."

Chapter 1

Told by the point of view of:

Rick

They have called me by many names: The Lumberjack, Industrial Man, Cool Guy. But my name is Rick. All they do is come up with different names to call people by. Some normal, Some crazy. But crazy or not, there's one thing they all have in common: If they mention nature, they mean destroying it. Although now I'm sad to admit that that's what I do. Now I regret doing it. It all started one spring morning.

I was driving through the woods looking for trees to cut when a bright flash knocked me out of the machine and onto the ground. Before I passed out, I could see one thing: My hand wasn't a hand anymore.

It was a paw.
