The Tale of Two Nightmares
Rose Weasley sat straight up in her bed, full of sadness and fear. She was consumed in all of her tears. They flooded out of her bright blue eyes and she sobbed into her arms. She wanted her parents now more than anything. The eight year old girl ran towards her parent's room as fast as the wind.
"Mummy! Daddy!" She cried running into their room. The lights were on, and little Hugo was curled on the bed crying with Ron and Hermione soothing and hugging him.
"Oh Rosie, what is it?" Hermione asked comfortingly.
"Mummy, Daddy, I had a nightmare," she said with more tears invading her eyes.
"Come here Rosie," Ron beckoned, "Little Hugo had a nightmare too, my poor kids."
"Rosie!" Hugo shouted through his own tears as he looked up from his hug with Hermione and Ron. He looked at her with his sad blue eyes, and with that face, urged Rose to come over.
Rose ran straight to the bed and jumped on. She crawled towards her family and joined the hug. Her parents seized an arm each around her and kept their other around Hugo. The family cuddled in a cramped four-way hug. The squeezed together, forming a smaller window of escape from their love. They cramped closer together and Hermione placed her head in Rose's beautiful red hair and whispered, "What was your nightmare about sweetie? What happened?"
"Mummy, Daddy, it was so scary. I was in a spacious white room, with nowhere to go. I kept running, and it all repeated over and over, only the same spacious white room. There was nothing for me there. No food, water, or people, just nothing. I was running around, shouting for you and Daddy. I need you two, I needed you and Daddy. No one came for me, Mummy, I felt so sad, and abandoned," she said with more tears coming.
"Oh Rosie!" Hermione said sadly, and squeezed Rose tighter.
"Rosie, it's okay now, that will never happen," Ron said, hugging his distressed family closer to him.
"Rosie, I had a nightmare too. In it, huge spiders were chasing after me in a dark forest. They were hungry and vicious, with huge eyes, and there were many of them. Everything was turning into spiders all around me, I had no escape, and I was alone," Hugo cried and he snuggled closer to his father.
"I think I had the same nightmare once," Ron said and hugged his son tightly, and Hermione let out a quiet giggle.
"Mummy, I felt so alone in there," Rose cried, hugging her tighter.
"Rosie, you will never be alone, as long as me and your father are alive," Hermione said in Rose's ear.
Rose smiled and cuddled closer to her family. She took a deep breathe, and fell into a sweet dream.
